Last Minute Summer Fun & Doctor Who
With the Fall Term almost here, I decided to get back into my sewing studio and have some fun. For me, that means quilting! But, what to quilt?
Since it's the 50th Anniversary of my favorite TV show, Doctor Who, this year, and my favorite Doctor, the 11th, is regenerating during the Christmas Special in December, I decided to create an 11th Doctor quilt to hang on the wall in my office at home, my office that is also inside my own TARDIS! Well, that's a separate story....
Last summer, my wonderful brother-in-law built a TARDIS door to cover the archway that leads into my office. Here it is, tucked into the corner of my living room.
My TARDIS lit up and decorated, Christmas, 2012
Now, back to the quilt.
Here is the beginning of my quilt, the doors of the TARDIS and police box sign, minus the yet-to-be-completed, round St. John Ambulance decal on the right door.
I plan to document the construction as it goes along as part of the fun of creating the quilt. Next: the St. John decal, of course, the base of the TARDIS and it's roof and light. The quilt is also going to have stars, and Gallifreyan script of short quotations from the 11th Doctor. Probably, a quotation or two from River Song, too. How can I leave out, "Hello, sweetie"? Also, there will be red bow ties against a camel plaid background because, after all, "Bow ties are cool"! Finally, there will be lots of planets on the reverse side. It's all going to take a while to complete, but be awesome when it's done.
